Resoketswe Lebjane Foundation
About Us
Resoketswe Lebjane Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in 2016 and registered with the Department of Social Development in 2017. The mission of the organisation is to bridge the gap between marginalised communities and access to justice, addressing the alarming rate of human rights violations in their operational sites which are: Shatale, Hlamalani and Majembeni, Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga Province. Their primary objective is to provide effective basic legal advice and paralegal services to individuals and community groups in the Ehlanzeni District, particularly in the rural areas of Bushbuckridge municipality.
In implementing their programmes, they employ various multifaceted approaches to reach their beneficiaries, including door-to-door campaigns, community workshops, school outreach programmes, community and radio dialogues, and social media engagement.

Impact and Achievements
Resoketswe Lebjane Foundation has made a significant impact in promoting social justice, human rights, and access to justice for marginalised communities. Through their community-based GBV prevention programme, they’ve successfully implemented comprehensive initiatives, including awareness campaigns, community dialogues, and school outreach. The efforts have led to increased awareness and education on GBV, human rights, and access to justice, empowering communities to make informed decisions.
Their major achievements include providing legal advice, paralegal services, and support to over individuals and groups, community members, promoting access to justice and bridging the gap between marginalised communities and justice services. Their partnerships with local tribal authority, organisations, and stakeholders have amplified their impact and leveraged resources, enabling them to extend their GBV project and establish a Sisterhood Advocate (SHA) project to equip women with community paralegal training.
The SHAs project interfaces with survivors of gender-based violence who often not informed about where to go when they experience violence. SHAs accompany survivors of GBV to lay charges with local SAPS, apply for protection/maintenance order as well as referring them to local domestic violence shelters. The total number of beneficiaries reached through this project exceed 5000 in these three communities: Shatale, Hlamalani and Majembeni.
