Get Informed Youth Development Centre (GIYDC)
About Us
The Get Informed Youth Development Centre (GIYDC) was founded in 2012 to address pressing needs among young people, aiming to bridge the gap between personal development and job creation to foster sustainable livelihoods. GIYDC is a community-based organisation headquartered in Kempton Park with two branches in Thembisa (Phomolong & Isithame) that are committed in empowering communities, with a particular focus on addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and promoting social development. GIYDC operates from the City of Ekurhuleni Local Municipality’s Youth Facility, serving as a hub for its activities. The establishment of the GIYDC in Thembisa townships further strengthens its mission by providing a critical connection between personal growth and entrepreneurial skills, supporting sustainable development.
GIYDC in its approach emphasizes gender equality and the protection of women and children in local communities. Their mission is to address systemic GBV through awareness campaigns, community mobilisation, and skills development programmes, working to create a safer, more equitable society.
