Doxa Youth Programs

About Us

Doxa Youth Programmes, trading as Doxa Family Care, is a non-profit organisation established in 2008 in Zwide 4, Gqeberha. Doxa Family Care is dedicated to empowering families and addressing gender-based violence through innovative programmes and strategic partnerships. Guided by a mission to preserve the family as a cornerstone of society, Doxa empowers communities through culturally responsive, community-based interventions.

Doxa operates one shelter located in Motherwell that has the capacity for an overnight stay and another shelter for a day service also known as a family resource centre based in Soweto dedicated to providing safe spaces for victims of gender-based violence (GBV). Beyond offering safe spaces, these shelters also host entrepreneurial skills programmes designed to empower them with practical skills to secure employment or create a business to survive such as baking skills or pastry-making skills. The goal is to equip them to actively participate in the country’s economy, fostering financial independence and breaking the cycle of dependency on abusive partners perpetrating GBV. Through these initiatives, Doxa strives to restore dignity and pave the way for a brighter, self-reliant future for survivors.

Their vision is to create inclusive and resilient communities where individuals can thrive free from violence and oppression. Doxa is deeply committed to promoting gender justice, fostering positive masculinities, and supporting survivors of GBV.
