The Centre for Farmworkers and Rural Development has achieved several visible and tangible impacts in its mission to empower farmworkers and address systemic issues affecting rural communities. Some of the notable accomplishments and results include:
- Strengthened Access to Justice for Farmworkers and Women on Farms: Provided free legal, counselling, and referral services to farmworkers, especially women and girls, enabling them to assert their rights under labour and human rights laws. Established and supported Victim Empowerment Committees (VECs) on farms to assist survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) with resources, guidance, and advocacy.
- Raised Awareness and Provided Education on GBV and Labour Rights: Organized community conversations, workshops, and seminars on farms to raise awareness of GBV, human rights, and socio-economic rights among farmworkers. Empowered women and girls with knowledge and skills to challenge inequality and abuse, contributing to an increase in reported cases and access to support services.
- Advocated for Policy and Legislative Reforms: Influenced policy implementation at the farm level by working with government bodies and civil society organisations to improve enforcement of labour laws and rights. Promoted structural reforms that address equal pay, access to basic services, and non-discrimination on farms.
- Increased Economic and Social Participation: Helped women and girls on farms gain access to social grants and economic resources, improving their livelihoods and reducing dependence on exploitative labour practices.
