About Us

The Bojanala Legal Advice Centre provides free legal assistance and social welfare programmes to marginalised and vulnerable communities in rural areas under the district of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality in the North-West Province. Bojanala Legal Advice Centre is a community-based advice office that is committed to providing legal support and ensuring access to justice in communities. These services include but are not limited to programmes that are designed for community empowerment and serving justice, the organisation ensures access to legal resources, educates the public on various matters that affect them such as human rights, and addresses pressing social issues like gender-based violence (GBV), substance abuse, and discrimination amongst others.

Key Focus Areas

• Legal support for domestic violence, child rights, family law, and labour disputes.
• Social welfare programmes targeting substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and victim empowerment.
• Promoting human rights education and raising awareness about gender-based violence and discrimination, particularly towards LGBTQIA+ communities.
• Assisting undocumented migrants, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable and marginalised groups.

Impact and Achievements

• Successfully conducted multiple workshops and community dialogues to combat GBV and substance abuse. 
• Provided legal aid and awareness campaigns to over 600 beneficiaries annually, including women, children, and elderly citizens. 
• Empowered rural communities through partnerships with government departments, NGOs, and community-based organisations.
